I'm on vacation, at the beach, taking a much-needed break from work. But of course it's raining and expected to for days, so the column will be written after all. I saw Bob Dewey on the train the other day with Mike Donahue '82. Both Bob and Mike are now at Morgan Stanley, a recent change for Bob.
Lynn Peterson Read recently became an associate of Ferriter, Scobbo, Sikora, Singal, Caruso & Rodophele (whew!). Lynn has served as a Superior Court clerk and was most recently associated with Sullivan and Worcester. After Dartmouth Lynn graduated from Northeastern University School of Law.
Word came from a super-secret business conference attended by several '81s. You know, the type of meeting that you are not supposed to say you were at, but if you were... well, I wasn't there, I'm just reporting. Su-MoonPaik, who was there, has a new son named Chester who was born in late summer. SuMoon is coping well, "looking great" (says my source), and back at work at TekMagik. TekMagik is a Belmont, Calif., firm which develops video games (and probably some other stuff of which I am not aware).
Pat Berry and Steve Zales from Sports Illustrated were there also. Pat is still working for SI for Kids and enjoying her nearly one-year-old baby girl Steve is director of development at SI, which means he deals with (or dreams up?) "non-magazine" products. Now I know where the Swimsuit Video, Swimsuit Calendar, Making of the Swimsuit Video, etc., come from!
Word has it that Ellen "Sprout" Brout, still working at Oracle, was there too.
In other news, Bill Dorman, previously executive producer and deputy managing editor for "CNN Business News," has been named an on-air correspondent. What all those titles really mean is that Bill will be the correspondent covering business and financial news of the Pacific Rim from Tokyo. Bill has a master's degree in journalism from Columbia and has been with CNN since 1983. Bill and his wife, Sparkle Haytler, have been living in New York City.
