The fall weather during our mini-reunion could not have been finer, and the foliage was still in all its glory. Some classmates showed up who have never made it to a mini. I'm thinking of John andTerry Murray, all the way from Clearwater, Fla., and Fred and Jan Wightman. John's a retired dentist, practicing in Michigan before retiring to Florida. Fred's in Toms River, N.J., and I've written previously about him. Glad you made it and enjoyed.
I think the crowd at Dartmouth Night was the largest I've ever seen. The bonfire was magnificent, and some of our more vigorous members marched in the parade. Those who attended Prof. George Demko's seminar on Friday were rewarded by a fine program. And to those of us whose notion of geography consisted of the knowledge that Lebanon is south of Hanover, geography took on a whole new meaning. Oh yes, there was a football game, and the Big Green rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Eli Yale, 14-13. Thank you Whitey Burnham and Walt Snickenberger, our mini chairperons, for all you did.
But there was a somber note. Whitey Burnham, in an address just slightly less moving than George Washington's "Farewell Address," announced that he was stepping down as mini-reunion chairperson. But not to grieve. By dint of some forceful arm-twisting and a large bribe, Bob Kimball agreed to take over the chair, with Walt Snickenberger as co-chair. Whitey, you gave eight great years, and we thank you for a super job. To all who came, thank you. Those who didn't, you missed a wonderful time. Plan on next year and the 50th in '96.
Here's the list of those assembled. If I left out anyone, I suppose you could sue me. P red and Jan Wightman, Tom and Mary Cohn, Whitey and Joanne Burnham, Clark and June Judge, Don and Margaret Furber, Jud and Grace Hannigan, John and Terry Murray, Jim and Gene Von Rohr, Buol and Joan Hinman, Walt Snickenberger and Anne Neilson, Bill and Bobbi DeStefano, Andy and Win Gnininger, Rosemary Marlette, John and Edie McClintock, Bob and Jack ie Kimball, Frank and Pat Ettari, Tom and Emilie Adams, Ray and Susan DeWees, Ruth Fitchet, Sam and Sue Johnson, Robby and Joan Smith, Paul and Helen Barnes, Bob and Dot Clifton, Howard and Miriam Schneider, Harvey and Dottie White, Jim Lynch, Ham Bailey, Jim Barnet, and Jim and Dolores Coleman.
I have to close with some sad news. I have been notified that our classmates William Duncan Allison, Eugene Edmund Bossi, and John Francis Sweeney have passed away. We extend our sympathy to their families.
