Continuing my pursuit of information on the inactivities of our classmates I called Milt Hoefle, M.D. After graduation he went on to graduate from the Dartmouth Medical School in 1930. He practiced surgery thereafter and retired in 1974 to Heritage Village in South bury, Conn. He gave up golf some time ago and says he does nothing now except putter in his small garden. He definitely qualifies. He is very proud of his son, Frank 8., who followed in his footsteps, graduating from Dartmouth in 1957 and the Medical School in 1959. Evidently he is making a name for himself in the field of opthamology.
Next I called Jack Zellers to see what news he might have. He amazed me by reporting that he had just returned from a visit to the Lake Mansfield Trout Club with his grandson. He returned with the grandson but no trout. So, he was hyperactive and doesn't qualify.
He suggested that I call Lou Pelletier who had led an interesting life as a writer of television scripts. I caught him having tea and cookies in his garden in Santa Monica, Calif., with another Dartmouth grad of the class of '30. He says it is a beautiful garden and he has a magnificent view. His wife, Mary, is 20 years his junior and takes very good care of him. He has been in retirement for 20 years and is happily doing absolutely nothing except enjoying his view and (there I go again) puttering around in his garden. He is fully qualified for my list.
Happily, there are no deaths to report this month.
