Ken Wilson is now a member of the board of directors of ITT Corp., a hotel, gambling, and entertainment concern. Ken's real job is as managing director of Lazard Freres & Cos., a New York-based investment bank. Down in sunny Hawaii, Mike Antal has recently received a patent for a new process that may revolutionize the process of making charcoal. His technique will cut production time, significantly reduce pollution, and double or even triple yields. By producing more charcoal from less wood and by being able to utilize other biomass sources such as corncobs, macadamia nut shells, and coconut shells to name but a few, his method could help slow deforestation in developing nations. Mike occupies the Coral Industries Chair of Renewable Energy Resources with the University of Hawaii's Natural Energy Institute and College of Engineering. He has recently received a grant to operate a pilot plant and hopes that its success will attract private investment for a larger facility.

Meanwhile, back up north in Connecticut, Steve Bates has moved from the Shawmut National Corp. to an executive vice president slot at PNC Personal Advisory Services Inc., a subsidiary of PNC Bank. Steve will serve clients as a private banker and personal liaison for the services that the bank provides in Connecticut.
