Jennifer (Young) Wadleigh, mother of Class Baby Evelyn Wadleigh, writes with an update on her life: "I sell real estate now in my small island town of Yinalhaven, Maine, and am vice chair of the local school board." Jennifer also had a small part in a play this spring with her community theater group. The play was OnceUpon AM attress and Jennifer played a lady-inwaiting. "It's a good thing that my husband is a good sport," writes Jennifer. "I was at rehearsals, performances, meetings or bowling (I am captain of a losing bowling team) almost every night in March! Who would have ever thought I'd sing in public or hold public officego figure." Evelyn, our class baby, will be 5 this summer and looks forward to starting kindergarten in the fall. "She is really smart (of course) and loves to sing and play pretend with her little sister Ginny. She attends nursery school, Sunday school and takes a gymnastics class an hour a week. She can print her name and a couple other words and is beginning to recognize a number of written words." I hope Dartmouth is one of the words she can recognize! If anyone is interested in real estate on a Maine island, please send Jennifer an email at hrealtyjW@ aol.com.
Did you know that Chris Puckett finished second in each of the two downhill ski races at the inaugural winter Goodwill Games which were held in Lake Placid this past February? Chris had spent most of his skiing career in giant slalom, but recently switched to downhill. He was competing against a field that included three Austrians who had won World Cup races this year, and a Canadian who took the bronze medal in the 1994 Winter Olympics. Nice job, Chris! Skiing is a tradition that brings many Dartmouth families together, as illustrated in a letter by Peter Fahey '68, who writes of a March family ski vacation in Jackson Hole which turned into "perhaps the grandest of the Dartmouth-related ski sessions of the season. I first invited my son Pete Jr. and told him we had plenty of room. He was easily convinced, as was his bride, Justine Wruble Fahey. They quickly added Cliff Miller '93, Jeff Richards and John Schneider '96." The Faheys ran into many other Dartmouth folks that week, and also got to see the aforementioned Chris Puckett (who also happens to be Pete Jr.'s freshman year roommate). This time Chris was competing in the National Alpine Ski Championships. "I enjoyed a marvelous ski season," writes Fahey Sr. "Skiing and Dartmouth came together in a way which enhanced my life. I expect that they will for many years to come." Thanks so much for sharing this story with us, Mr. Fahey. I look forward to hearing similar stories from classmates who create their own Dartmouth memories and mini-reunions in the years ahead. May Dartmouth continue to enrich all ofyour lives. Please write! Take care.
