April 21 and the last Montreal snow is melting. My hot tub is full of 20-ish, naked, anti-free-trade protesters en route to Quebec City. Well, what do you think? Should I join them? Am I too old for such things at 40? But first, the latest installment of the '82 news:

Tony DeRosa lives in Williamsburg, Virginia. An ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and refractive surgery, Tony is also the ophthalmology expert at AskMe.com. He reports that Daniel Goldin is thriving in the bookselling business in Milwaukee, continues to write excellent book review lists, and still travels all over the country.

Tim von Herrmann and wife Susan recently returned home to Lincoln, Massachusetts, from Cambodia, where they picked up son Avery (6 months). He joins Miles (4), Katharine (11) and (9). Tim has been with Accenture (forcaroline merly Andersen Consulting) since 1988, most recently with their emerging markets practice. Tim regularly sees Chris Reynolds, who lives in Way land. In 1998 Tim provided bone marrow to his sister Joan 'BO to help her beat leukemia. It worked like a charm, but without the perfect bone marrow match the story might have ended differently. Tim urges everyone to register with the HLA national bone marrow registry. You never know who might need you.

Kent Arnold and wife Doreen live in McLean, Virginia, where Kent works as an engineer under contract to the Navy, with a side career coaching/managing his two children's soccer, baseball and basketball teams. "Life is full and fine."

From Peter Cogan: "Still teaching high school English in Denver. On April 10, was riding 22 inches of new snow at Loveland. Life in Colorado is very good."

Brad Brown is a partner at McKinsey in its telecom practice in Boston. Brad recently celebrated his 40th "in true regressed fashion, including shot luge, two kegs, fireworks, beer pong, pool and Austin Powers drop-in." In attendance were Brian O'Mara, Rob Bell, Mark Cruce, Jeff Given, Mark Nesline "and a bunch of wild Holyoke and Colby women" (including Brads wife, Jane Shanley).

Leslie Goransson is a psychiatrist in private practice in downtown D.C., just down the street from the White House, which always makes for interesting clientele. She and her partner live in Virginia with their two cats. Leslies niece was recently admitted to the Dartmouth class of 2005. A photo of her as a baby in Leslies arms, proudly displaying the "Vox Clamantis in Deserto" T-shirt, accompanied her application.

Jeff Newman recently joined the board of directors of the Merrimack Valley Assistance Program, which assists people with AIDS. Jeff has also been elected to the board of Gun owners New Hampshire, the advocacy lobby for firearms owners in the Granite State. [Hey, count me in NOT!] Talk about covering the full spectrum....

Jay Miller reports that Dr. Chuck Cairns is now medical director, south central region, for Merck. Chuck will remain at the University of Colorado as associate professor of emergency medicine. Chuck and wife Monica recently had a son.

And finally, a February article in the Oklahoma City newspaper featured Bill Cameron. As a teenager Bill survived a plane crash that killed his father, and left Bill next in line to inherit the family business, American Fidelity Corp., found- ed and run by his grandfather. Today Bill is president and CEO. The company has 1,400 employees and includes one of the largest private insurance companies in the country.

Apologies for the preponderance of men in this column, but Leslie G. was the only woman who wrote in. I suppose the reality of pre-equal access gender imbalance ("the ratio") lives on in the columns of the Class Notes.

P.S. There is a preponderance of women among the tubbing protesters. On the basis of my solid anti-establishment credentials (not to mention my protracted bachelorhood), I've decided to join them—in the tub, that is.
