Greetings from the Hanover plain!

Your newest humble scribe now embarks on filling this column with tidbits of interest to our brotherhood near and far. Like my esteemed predecessor, I invite (read: implore!) you to contact me frequently and promptly with your news, thoughts and commentary. Living here in Hanover and working at the College I can probably find enough to fill this space, but you should think of this as our column, not my personal bully pulpit.

John Rockwell, our newsletter editor and my co-conspirator in spreading words of wisdom among our classmates, has already shared the news from our recent 3oth reunion gathering. I will only add that it was a true privilege and pleasure to have worked with Shel Prentice to bring as many of us together as could attend. For those who missed the 30th, be of good cheer! Although we truly missed you, we have many more ahead of us!

Word has reached me that in the proud and productive tradition of '72 legacies we have once again helped swell the undergraduate ranks, this time in the class of 2006. Shel's daughter, Amanda; Joel Hyatt's son, Jared; Mike Hufft's daughter, Kate; and Dan Cooperman's son, Jeffrey (if I missed someone please let me know so they can be properly recognized!), arrived in Hanover in September filled with that same excitement and perhaps apprehension we shared 34 years ago. Seems like yesterday....

Those who would like to enjoy the College in the fall and take advantage both of foliage and good company should plan on hitting town on Saturday, November 2, for the Homecoming game against our archrival Harvard. Better yet, arrive early and share in the nostalgia and warmth of the bonfire activities Friday night! Although this issue will arrive at your homes only shortly before that weekend, I'm sure john will have tuned you up in his mailing. We'll be sharing pre- and or post-game activities with some other '7os classes, exact times and locations to be pro- vided upon your arrival (contact the folks at Blunt) if not before.

Finally (for this installment!), I want to solicit from each of you a current e-mail address. We are working with the College to create a listserv for our class which will enable us both to quickly disseminate news as it breaks and to create a forum for discussion of issues relating to us as classmates and alumni. If you send either John Rockwell or myself an electronic message from your home or business account (or both if you wish) we can pull your address from the "sender" field. You could also send us news (please!) about yourselv at the same time! As we bring this electronic capacity on line we'll keep you apprised of useful tricks and shortcuts to make it work most efficiently for us all.

And that is all I have for now. Happy holidays and warmest wishes to one and all!
