By the time you read this, our 70th reunion will probably be over. As of this mid-August date we are expecting around 30 classmates, plus another 50 wives, widows, children, friends, etc. A great reunion is in store for all of us. The one guy we really will miss is "Shorty" Thomas but he can't make a fall reunion— believe it or not, he is still teaching at Cheshire, Connecticut, High School. One of our feature events at our 70th will be the Yale-Dartmouth football game, which should be a good one. Yale is favored to win the Ivy League championship, with Penn and Harvard following. Dartmouth could be a con- tender if our quarterback Charlie Rittger is as good as last year and if we can replace our excellent wide receiver of last year, Jay Barnard, and tight end Casey Cramer, a seventh-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We also have 46 lettermen returning, including 19 starters—so, we could be better than anticipated. Our first four games are our toughest but we might win one of them.
Sad to say, but we have lost a few more of our classmates—Herman Merwin Spitzer, Raymour Studley, VanBuren Thome, William Cameron Eldridge and J. William Knibbs III. Our condolences to their families and also to our classmate John Lyle, who lost his wife, Frances, after 60 years of a happy marriage.
