We received a complimentary note from Dick Eberline in which he reminds us, "Don't grow old." Rip telephoned him, and they had a great visit over the miles. Dick lives by his own advice, and is in good spirits.

Recently we attended an Head seminar on Public Policy Issues: 2004, "Roots of Terrorism: Historical, Economic and Religion." Three fine speakers and many questions answered. How fortunate we are to live in the Dartmouth vicinity.

The class has lost two more fine members: Dr. Wilbur Flannery died March 13 at home in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He and his wife were super active in their community and church, and both had been recognized for their many activities, he as "First Citizen" and she as "First Lady." He had devoted more than 60 years to medicine and his community.

Debbie Carpenter Thompson wrote us that her father, Ed Carpenter, died at home in Fair Haven, Vermont, March 9. He was president of Vermont Structural Slate Co., and some years ago he donated a new headstone for Eleazar Wheelocks grave. We are glad to have had a visit with Ed and seen his lovely stone house filled with family memorabilia. Our sympathy goes to the families of both these fine men.

Is this a year to vote? We think so, and Rip adds:

I've seldom heard such hateful words As in this voting season. The candidate speaks mostly hate And little thought or reason. I wonder if he's truly wise Or just competing for a prize.
