The theme of this column is "We're now old enough to have doctors among us!" Congratulations to all those who completed their medical school programs this year and best of luck in your residencies!

Heather Huffman graduated from UCLA medical school (yes, Arnold did sign her diploma) in June and has started her residency in emergency medicine in L.A. "I live 30 steps from the sand in a beach house in Marina del Rey with a cat (Duke) and two good friends. Yup,you've guessed it: I've been Californified. There's no going back now!"

Ryan Evans just celebrated two huge events in his life. He graduated from Columbia Medical School in May and married his high school sweetheart, Tina Salipante, in June. He enjoyed a busy schedule in school, playing guitar and drums in the popular N.Y.C. underground band Parenchyma and graduating with top honors. He started his residency in neurology in Rochester, New York, where he is ready to fill his free time mowing his lawn, pruning his hair and gardening.

Kristin Miller and Mitzi Zarfoss both graduated from Veterinarian programs in May (U of WI and Cornell, respectively) and recently ran into each other at U of WI veterinarian pathology rounds. "We subsequently went out in Madison to catch up and are off to internships in Boston [Kristin] and Columbia, Missouri [Mitzi]. Our Congrats to the vet/med/grad students who are finishing with us this year!"

John Finley wrote to tell me that he's moved to Boston and started his residency.in internal medicine at Tufts-New England Medical Center. He made the move in June, which was perfect timing for his attendance at Dan Siegal and Emily Wasco's wedding. "The wedding ceremony was in Newburyport, Massachusetts, while the beautiful reception was at Ipswich Country Club. Among many Dartmouth alumni, Tom Kanter served as best man and Tina Pai and Jamie Labell were in the wedding party. The DJ brought us back to our Dartmouth days in the basements playing some Chumbawaba and Juvenile (Back it UP!!)." Congratulations!

Erin Mackanin married Jan Horbach in May outside of Chicago. "It made us feel special to have our Dartmouth friends journey so far to be with us, especially Kat Wendell, who traveled all the way from her Peace Corps country of Ecuador. Afterwards Jan and I enjoyed many adventures in Belize on our two-week honeymoon, and now have to face "real" life again! Oh to live in Europe with lots of vacation days!"

Emily Swistel was recently engaged to Ron Portnoy, an investment banker in New York. "We will be getting married in the summer of 2005 in Spring Lake, New Jersey. We met three years ago at a happy hour at Mo's Caribbean in N.Y.C. Chris Chang '99 and Adam Siegel were his coworkers and introduced us. Adam claims he knew we would be married before we even started dating and we laughed it off. Guess he knew better than we did!"

Lastly, it is with great sadness that I report that our fellow classmate, Ezekiel "Zeke" Webber, passed away in April. A psychological and brain sciences major with a sociology minor, Zeke was very active while at Dartmouth. He was involved in the Dartmouth Rainbow Alliance, Green Key Society, Sigma Nu, ORL, COS and SAPA. In honor of Zeke, the class has engraved and donated Casta Painting: Images of Race in Eighteenth CenturyMexico by Ilona Katzev to the Dartmouth library as part of the Alumni Memorial Books Program. For those of us who knew Zeke, we remember how unique and special he was and how much he contributed to the entire Dartmouth community. We will miss him dearly.
