After recovering from a serious stroke Bob Button is once again conducting his swing band and leading his six-woman vocal group, Button & Bows. Last summer they appeared at the Greenwich (Connecticut) Parks Concert series and Bob and his men's chorus, the Melody Men, have appeared at nursing homes and retirement centers. As usual, Bob is a very busy guy. His latest accolade is a nomination to the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame. Colonel Buttons nominator includes a couple of pages of accomplishments and honors, much too long to include here. In her final paragraph she says: "Bob raised a family, served his country both during and after wartime, pioneered in communications, enriched his community and shared his talent and wisdom. Quite noteworthy is that he accomplished all this in a modest and unassuming manner." Congratulations, Bob!
Unfortunately, we have the sad news of two more classmates who have passed on. Roger Sullivan '79 sent word that his father, Barry Sullivan, had died peacefully of natural causes on July 24 of this year. Boyce Price called to report that Joe Davis had passed away on August 15. We offer our condolences to the families of both men. I suffered a stroke myself back in earlyjuly. Fortunately, it was a mild one. It affected my speech and my right leg and hand. My speech and writing have already (mid-August) improved considerably and I hope will continue to do so. In any case I will be moving down the road to an assisted living facility in September. There will be a slight change of address—see below. Hopeyou all have pleasant holidays.
