WHAT WAS BY ALL ODDS the biggest and best spring party held by the Chicago alumni was the Glee Club concert and dance at the Drake Hotel April 6. The entertainment committee, consisting of Pete Callaway '30, John Wright '32 and Fred Uhlemann '30, report that close to 700 attended and that the scholarship fund was amply guaranteed for the coming year. A big measure of the success of the party goes to the Glee Club which gave a superb performance. They sang under difficulties, but their selection of songs and their excellent novelty numbers were enthusiastically received. May they return soon!

The distinguished guests of the evening were Katherine Cornell, Irene Castle McLaughlin, Helen Flint, and Jean Carmen who have a particular interest in Dartmouth because of the proposed new center for drama, music, and radio in Hanover. No less distinguished, however, were the many Dartmouth men present. The Chicago association is proud of its membership and it's a real pleasure to see such interest in Dartmouth affairs.

Illinois held its primary election on April 9, and among those running for office, all in the Republican party, were Drennan J. Slater '25 for Congressman from the 10th district; Brown Pierce '22 for state representative from the 8th district; and Arthur W. Sprague '24 for state representative from the 7th district.

Henry L. Parker '26, captain of the Dartmouth Alumni Squash Racquets team, reports that the team has won the Chicago District Class "A" League championship for two years, 1939 and 1940. Sufficient interest has been shown so that a team has also been entered in the Class "B" league, and this team is expected to duplicate the performance of the "A" team in a short time. The members of the two teams are as follows: Class "A": H. L. Parker '26, Captain; J. D. Pope '23, C. B. Hill Jr. '31, H. H. Macdona '33, E. E. Myers '20, J. A. Wright '32-

Class "BH. C. Stockwell '24, Captain; H. H. Hixson Jr. '33, Norman Bankhart '29, Frank J. Wright '35, C. G. Ireys '32.

Just before the spring party, on April 3, there was a luncheon at Mandel Brothers for undergraduates and their fathers. Bob White, basketball captain, gave an interesting talk on what's going on in Hanover. At this meeting an opinion of the men present was solicited to decide where to have regular luncheon meetings. Ned Price '21 is in charge of luncheon arrangements and a plan will be announced soon.
