The best place to start is at the top and work down, so I am told, and so it will be with the material accumulated for this, the last issue of the season in which 1948 will participate.

The Al Epsteins were proud parents effective February 10. The reason is Elizabeth Anne who is living with Mommie and Daddy at 360 First Avenue, New York City.

Got a real nice letter from Jean McLaughlin, better half of Jim, who wrote from 18 Hemlock Drive, Syosset, N. Y. That is the new address of their new home into which they moved on February 17, right in the middle of a snowstorm. (This is going to sound silly in June.) Also, we can increase the class roll, for Jacy (age 4) and Scott (age 2) have a younger brother, Mark Guthrie, who was born last August 17. Jim continues to commute to New York City where he finds work interesting at Cortland Furniture Co. From Wilmington, Dela., we find that the Jim Whites are also parents, as their first child, Jennifer Irene, recently made her appearance. Jim is a research chemist with DuPont's Textile Fibre's Department.

Lo and behold! Rem (ex-Sonny) Drury, who penned these notes so ably and long, has finally stayed in one spot long enough to get himself not only engaged but tentatively committed for a matrimonial trip this very month. The lucky girl is Miss Joan Borden of Fox Chapel, Pa. She is a graduate of Winchester Thurston School in Pittsburgh and Wells College at Aurora, N. Y. Rem is working out of Pittsburgh for Culf Oil.

Jerry King is due for a year's study in France by dint of a Fulbright Fellowship recently awarded to him. He has been working for a Ph.D. in Political Science at Stanford and hopes to complete his Doctor's thesis while abroad.

Got a nice card from Gil Shattuck sending greetings from Austria. Must have slipped over for a vacation or sumpin'. Present at a holiday dance (don't recall which holiday) at the Dartmouth Club in New York were Johnand Pat Hatheway, Charlie and Jackie Herterich, Rich Landon and the source of this information, Jim Schaefer and "young charmer."

At this point we shall take a slightly less newsy tack and mention that the Alumni Fund has just a wee bit of time to run so get into the race fast so that we can come out on top. Early in the campaign we were doing real well but that doesn't last forever unless EVERYBODY pitches in. The improvement at that time was due mainly to the increased generosity of the regulars. There are still nameless counties to be heard from - even for the first time.

The Alumni Fund is an opportunity to exercise your responsibility a bit. You're gettin' along, fellas and gals. Don't put it off forever.

Herb Bender is teaching high school at Dover Plains, N. Y.... Bill Coleman can be found at 914 Hillside Ave., Rochester, N. Y. ... John Conlin is located at 7403 Inzer St., North Springfield, Va.... Bob Kennard is a knight of the road who can be addressed at 272 Independence Drive, Boston, Mass....

Nat Merrill is back in the USA living in Apt. 219, 60 East 9th St., New York City.... Harland Ratcliffe is Ass't Dist. Credit Manager of International Harvester Co., in Buffalo. Home address is 147 Kettering Drive, Kenmore 23, N. Y.... George Woods is located at 35 First St., Rumson, N. J.... Ken Young is a Landscape Architect and Contractor at 37 DeMott Ave., Rockville Centre, L. I., N. Y.

Got a wonderful letter from Bobo Russell today. If you think you're busy, listen to this. Aside from being treasurer and red hot salesman for the F. L. Russell Corp., suppliers of Sterling loose leaf and blank books for such giants as Woolworth, Bo has run about every drive to be run in Saugerties, is an avid Lion, has something to do with the local Park Commission, is on the board of directors of newlyorganized WSKN (920 on your dial) in Saugerties, is building a beautiful home on the banks of the Hudson (we saw the plans last fall), is running the Alumni Fund again this year which means keeping on top of over forty Assistant Class Agents who are contacting you (and is trying to personally acknowledge each gift), has two active boys and is looking for a girl, with Barbara due this month to present a third heir. He mentions that while in New York for the Alumni Fund Kick-Off Dinner, he saw John Hatheway, Lou Perry, Rick Landon, Jim Schaefer, Lloyd Krumm, Charlie Herterich and Hugh Ettinger of the New York area, while Gil Shattuck came down from Hartford and Fran Hummel showed up from Bridgeport for the festivities. All these and many more are at work for you, aiming to make '48 the best class in the whole Fund. I don't know how he does it but he seems to thrive on it. Seems like the people who do a lot can always do more. It's the ones who don't even get started that don't ever see how they can do anything.

Well, no more Class Notes for '48 till fall. We'll miss you through the summer but keep glued to your newsletter for details. Bye.
