Hello world! This is Clarence D. and another program of class music. There are many letters coming in. Great. Keep it up. If you have been meaning to write someone for a long time then write me and I'll pass it on to him in this magazine serial. The class has done so well over the past year that I will have to make a number of large awards in this article. The first goes to Steve Lampl, all of the people who helped him. and the class for the excellent showing in the Alumni Fund. An outstanding 72% of the class contributed to the Fund. A new type of fund is being set up for the 200th Anniversary so watch your nickels.

Ed Matthews, the esteemed head of the clan, is back at Tuck after a summer of holding down a job in the Comptroller's division of the Vick Chemical Co. Ed writes that Aaron Daniels is working for Anchor-Hocking Glass and living in New York where he played on an undefeated squash team at the N. Y. Dartmouth Club. Charlie Schneider graduated second in a large class of officers at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds School. Charlie got his Tuck-Thayer degree in June. Ed also noticed in the paper that Mike Brown, now in his second year at Harvard Law School, has been helping coach the Harvard Freshman team. For Shame!

Jim Mayer was recently admitted to the Sons of the Revolution by virtue of the fact that an ancestor of his was a private in Bucks County, Penna., Militia. Randy Nord and Miss Mary Anna Connelly were recently married. They are now members of the sea going Dartmouth Club in San Diego where Randy is stationed in the Navy. Bob Schwartz was married in the early fall and they are now living in Rochester where Bob is attending the Medical School. Miss Emily Evans Webber became Mrs. Ted Spetnagel and now they are setting up housekeeping at that military haven. Fort Dix.

Don Adley and Miss Jane Griswold Miller were married at a wedding in which the ushers were Chuck Cummings, Bob Adelizzi, George Bixby, and Andy Cattano. Miss Ellen Totas became Mrs. John R. Turnbull Jr. They will live in Poughkeepsie where Jack is working for IBM.

The second large award of the article goes to Al Escalante who, as a geologist engaged in foreign exploration for petroleum in Guatemala for the Union Oil Company of California, has been working in the deep jungles of El Peten, Guatemala. The following is a quotation from Union Oil's magazine 76. "Escalante made a non-routine entry in his field notes for the day: 'Today while cutting a trail six kilometers southeast of the camp, we uncovered the ruins of an ancient Indian city.... It may throw light on the little known social organization and habits of men who peopled our hemisphere about 400 A.D., about the time that Attila the Hun was preparing his invasion of Imperial Roma'."

Bill Gallagher was awarded a Fellowship by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. Bill spent his fellowship at Mary Hitchcock during the summer before entering Harvard Med. School this fall. The Dartmouth medical contingent is large, united, and has Bob Shirley as their secretary. Bob is engaged to Miss Althea Hersey and they plan to be married in December. Bob writes that there are sixteen members of the class at Harvard. Bob Charman is at Cornell Med., while Tom Hall and Bob Jefferies are going to McGill and Nick Tschetter is at Colorado. Kwanha Yim received his graduate degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts last June. Erich Kunzel, who has just finished at Harvard and is on a leave of absence from the Santa Fe Opera Co.. will be a member of the Master's Class of the School of Conductors at Hancock, Me. Erich will conduct in programs with such men as Leonard De Paur.

The third large prize of the article goes to a date this month and a person next month. In the interest of finding the Class Baby as the first child born after graduation we will publish the present winner's date. If you know of a baby born closer to graduation than August 11, 1957 at 1:59 P.M., please let me know for that is the date of the present winner.

NEXT MONTH: The name of the Class Baby and the date of the Class Boy's birthday.
