Rain on the roof, classical music on the Hi Fi, and pen in hand. It's a sleepy Sunday - a sort of over-stuffed-chair-Book-of-the-Month-Club-Sunday -and here I am, trying to squeeze some inspired thoughts from a totally relaxed brain. Three years of inactivity don't keep the cranium creative. But thanks to local newspapers and other litteri, this column exists on legalized plagiarism.

How many different ways can there be to say that another Dartmouth brother has become engaged and/or married? After 32 issues of "biting the dust," "going down the bridal path" (a weak attempt), "taking the fatal step" (substitute "big" for "fatal" for variety's sake), "tying the knot," "leaving the ranks of bachelorhood," etc., etc., ad infinitum, reader and writer are about clichéd-out. Therefore, here are some interesting items concerning Fifty-fivers (also overworked) who have recently made known their engagements (substitute "weddings," if applicable).

Cy Muromcew is engaged to Mary Lee of Princeton, N. J., and Smith College. Cy was a member of the United States delegation on disarmament plans in Geneva. Rog Young will marry Belinda Fitzpatrick this coming June. Belinda is a graduate of Garland Junior College in Boston, and a native of Medford, Mass. Rog has completed his Air Force tour and is studying law at the University of Pennsylvania. Hank Maretz plans a spring wedding; the bride, June Tuckerman of New Rochelle, N. Y., is a Wheaton College alumna.

Bob Sterling and Rita Judd were married February 7. Rita's another Wheaton gal, and a native of Danbury, Conn. Bob's with IBM (Hartford) in the Data Processing Division. Chuck McGoldrick will marry Joan Fletcher of Westwood, Mass., next August. Chuck completed a three-year hitch in the Army (Germany) and is completing his studies at the University of Vermont. April is the big month for Neal Allen and Joan Wheaton. Joan is from Wakefield, Mass. - a graduate of Mary Hitchcock, and on the staff of the New York Hospital. Neal completed his Navy tour as a Lieutenant (j.g.) and is with the New York Trust Co.

John Fitzgerald and Margaret McBride plan an August wedding. Margaret is an alumna of Albertus Magnus College and is working toward her Master's at Fairfield University. John is also at Fairfield working towards his Master's, having completed his tour as an Army lieutenant.

Stan Sklar writes from Whippany, N. J., where he's employed in the Bell Telephone Laboratories, working in Military Electronics. Stan plans to marry Ruth Portnay, a graduate of Boston University some time next September. Also with Bell in Whippany are Bill McCurdy, Bill Pierce '54, and Larry Scammon '56.

Dave Page sent a lengthy note from London where he's studying law at the London School of Economics. (Dave graduated from Harvard Law, magna cum laude, last June and has taken (and passed) the Michigan Bar exam.) After completing his studies there under a Fulbright grant, Dave plans to tour Russia and the rest of the continent this summer. Next September he will return to Detroit where he will be associated with the law firm of Honigman, Miller and Schwartz.

An ex-roommate of mine with the initials WW Jr. (whose name I can't mention since it has already appeared every month for the past five) has penned news from the Northeast in his own inimitable style, to wit: "Pep (Perry) threw a cocktail party last week'fore N.Year's (An old letter, by the way) - good blast. Mount (Dick), Al Wright, Bob Woodbury ('54) and self, Dart, representatives. Saw same plus Rick Worrel '57 and Dick Brown, N.Year's Eve." Later - "Larry Veator in Harvard Business School, first year; BrooksParker working in Boston and living at home in Newton; Mike Gorton in Boston area, Ronnie Campion plus above group seen at Dartmouth Harvard B-Ball game." Thanx WW.

Jim Wallace writes from New York where he's employed by the National City Bank. After spending one and a half years in Heidelberg, Germany, Jim and his wife Diane returned to New York. Last November Susan Healey Wallace arrived - a healthy, vocal young miss, according to Jim.

Red and Jill Hennigar completed their Air Force tour in December and are now in Albany, N. Y., where Red is a sales trainee with Socony Mobil. The Hennigar family now numbers three (counting Ma and Pa) with an addition expected shortly.

Ernie Arnold and Truman Brackett received their Bachelor of Arts Degrees from Dartmouth this January. Only other news on the pair is that Ernie's address is Stuart, Fla., and Truman's is Philadelphia.

That's it.
