Our pre-Harvard luncheon was held at the Algonquin Club, Boston on Friday, October 25. It was a memorable luncheon for many reasons but the greatest thrill came when we saw Cap Pierce walk through the door. This was the first time Cap had ever attended a pre-Harvard lunch.
And to make the luncheon more interesting several '05 and '07 men were present as well as three men who played football against Harvard at the dedication of its stadium sixty years ago. They were Mat Bullock '04, Walter Lillard '05, and Myron Witham '04. These three gave some very interesting sidelights on football in 1903.
The 1906 members present were WalterPowers, president; Norm Russell, treasurer; Art Chapin, news editor; Ned Redman, sec retary; Randall Cooke, Oliver Cromwell and Cap Pierce. Also present were Dr. Hill, Charles Pierce Jr., Fred Chase '05, Roger Brown '05, Harold Niles '07 and Bill Sherman '66. Walter Powers conducted the meeting in his usual witty and capable manner.
At the Harvard game the only 1906 man I saw was Nat Leverone. Except for his gray hair he looks about the same as he did in college.
When I was in Hanover for the Brown game I was sorry not to see Francis Childs but I did meet a freshman who said that Prof. Childs gave a most interesting lecture on Dartmouth History to the incoming freshmen.
This year, the 50th anniversary of the Alumni Fund, the members of 1906 will be asked to give serious consideration as to what their contribution will be. Our quota has been increased and we have lost some of our good givers so please give all the help you can and as early as possible.
