The Class will be sorry to hear that Cap Pierce died on November 29, 1966. In recent years, following the loss of his wife, Cap has lived in a retirement home in Pomona, Calif. He had endeared himself to the residents of the home by his constant interest in making life richer for them through his friendliness and his wonderful musical talents.
No man in our class has more fully exemplified the full-rounded life in love for his fellowman. He was a Christian gentleman and his inspirational booklets sent in recent years to classmates and friends have been a source of joy. He had already completed one for this year, which will be delivered before Christmas.
As a member of the Alumni Fund committee he was most active in soliciting subscriptions for the Fund. Cap was an enthusiastic follower of the football team and in the December issue of the MAGAZINE he had a letter suggesting that the Dartmouth-Yale game be held in Hanover at the time of the 200 th anniversary.
In the 1966 Alumni Fund 54 class widows showed their loyalty and generosity by making a gift in memory of their husbands. The amount subscribed by them was $1797 which was almost 30% of the total.
Many thanks for all of the Christmas Cards. I enjoyed reading them but was sorry that they did not include any news.
Bob Adriance and Walter Dakin will be celebrating their birthdays this month. Here is wishing them a happy day and the best of everything.
