News is scarce so this report will, of necessity, be very short. Nelson Gay celebrated his 81st birthday in August, and, as usual Ruth and Nelson put on a fine party. Clayton Tucker, Renza and "Bart"Sheperd, Frances and Marc Wright attended. The birthday luncheon was somewhat delayed owing to the late arrival of the Wrights on account of an accident to the car. Nelson persuaded a friend of his in Hancock to repair the car and have it on the road by the next morning. That meant that we had to stay over night and the Gays played host to two unexpected guests, without even a toothbrush, as we expected to return home after the luncheon. Thanks to the Gay's hospitality we enjoyed our visit immensely.
Mildred Conant sent some interesting news. She has been corresponding with 1913 widows and out of about 30 letters written she has received only a half dozen replies. She received a letter from Molly Wilbur, widow of Conrad Wilbur. She lives in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico which she likes but it is very far from her large family. She plans to take a three months "tribal trek" this fall from Frisco to Boston and be with some of them for the Xmas holidays. She has 23 grandchildren including spouses and great grandchildren, of whom there are three. Some visit her on vacations and a sister from Tulsa spends the winter with her. Molly wishes to be remembered to the Class.
A letter from Jack Remsen told of written she has received only a half dozen annual meeting of the New York State conference of the United Church of Christ. She is chairman of the State Material Aid committee. Lillian Gulick had a house warming in her new attractive house in Hanover overlooking the Mink Brook cavern and a wonderful view of Mt. Ascutney. "Vic" Dunbar and his son Donald have moved to Sidney, N. S. Donald is to be associate chairman of the Psychology Department at Zavia U. His new address is Apt. 1704, Cabot House, 500 Kings Road. Sydney, N. S. Thanks a lot for this information, Mildred, and here's hoping more will respond. "Bill" Towler, I understand is writing the "Tower Tidings" while "Joe" Barnett is in the hospital.
