Crosby Hoar tells of the beginnings of his career in forestry, when Paul Redington '00 delivered in Hanover a lecture which resulted in seven Dartmouth men, five of them '08ers, registering at the Yale School of Forestry and making forestry their life work.
Larry Treadway sends greetings. The weather keeps him indoors. Through his loyal amanuenses, Larry says "Let's have some mail before the postage goes out of sight." George Squier had again "just returned from the hospital"—we have been unable to keep count. Ralph Sherburne sends best wishes, his only change one year older.
Uncle Syd Ruggles continues to improve in health and happiness, living with his daughter's family. Walter Furman observes: "Mind as good as you'd expect, but legs beginning to wobble." Laura (Mrs. Arthur) Wyman enters Boston Eye and Ear Infirmary on March 3 for an eye operation. Don Comstock reports that both he and his wife are enjoying fairly good health, though he has had several trips to the hospital since moving to York five years ago. Martha (Mrs. George B.)Fine has worked out an ideal plan for her years venerable. Her son lives in South Jersey, her daughter in North Jersey, about 100 miles apart. Martha has a very attractive room of her own in each house. She goes from one to the other. She writes: "My health is very good, with a few infirmities thrown in.—I am happy and contented with the arrangement—It is quiet most of the time—When the four married grandchildren return with the six great grandchildren, it is a different story. I love it all! Long may it last!"
Thanks for the cordial notes from Mrs.Henry Stone, Mrs. Phil Thompson, Mrs.Ed. Bartlett, Mrs. Bob Thompson, Mrs.Charles Safford.
