In Winter Park, Fla., Dick Proctor was recently elected a director of the Barnett Bank of Winter Park. Dick has lived in Winter Park since 1949 and is the regional director and head of Jacobson's of Florida with stores in Sarasota and Winter Park. Dick is a past president of the Winter Park Community Chest; served as campaign chairman of the Red Cross; is a director of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce; a past director of the Park Avenue Merchants' Association; and is a past president and current member of the Dartmouth Alumni Association. In his spare time Dick also acted as president of the Winter Park Racquet Club and is a member of the Country Club of Orlando.
In the Midwest, Bob Williams, of recent "mistaken identity" fame and a former "runner" sends news that Connie Young has been elected president of United of Omaha. Bob writes: "Con has done a superb job in working not only for his company and the industry, but also the community. We think this combination speaks well for the years ahead under his guidance." Connie is from Omaha, having graduated from Central High School there and has been with Mutual of Omaha and United of Omaha since 1948. He served as director of Life Insurance Training, regional sales director and director of Field Services prior to becoming an officer for United in 1959. He became vice president in 1963 and was named executive vice president and assistant to the president in February 1973. His community activities include membership on the boards of trustees of Bishop Clarkson's Memorial Hospital, Boy Scouts of America - Mid-America Council, Lutheran Medical Center, Girl Scouts Advisory Board, and the Omaha C of C president's advisory board.
Finally, Bill Porter of Upper Saddle River, N.J., has been elected to the Borough Council, receiving the greatest tally of the four candidates running. In a stunning reversal of national trends, the Borough Council remains entirely Republican.
