At this time of the year, writing the class column for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE is like everything else - not worth it. The tail-end winter blues are upon us at this sitting. (Although by the time we read this it will probably be almost May.) The only things worth doing at this blah time are sleeping, eating, watching the "Three Stooges," and using one's imagination.

Well, in keeping with the consistency of the past few years, there have been rumblings out of the College concerning enrollment policy. It would be a pleasant change if everyone could have their way, but as we have seen in the past the practical route has been followed.

Annie (Stockmar) Upton and her husband John '75 are living in Denver. Annie is "presently working at the University of Denver as a research analyst for the department of development." She informs us that "TomReinhart, Scott Simons, Chris Daniel, JohnHoward, and Todd Mosenthal are spending [or have spent] the winter in Vail, Colo. JohnShephard is finishing his first year of law school at the University of Denver. Only two occupations landed by the Vail crew are truly notable: Tom (Reinhard) keeps the town in the spirit of good drink, he peddles firewater at the Village Liquor Store, and Chris Daniel is flipping Whoppers at the local Burger King!" Thank you, Annie.

Humorous (as always) Jim Burns sends a "news flash" from humorous yet neglected Nashua, N.H. Jim "just got a job as a research assistant in the Governor's Council on Energy in Concord, N.H." He is responsible for all the Governor's public statements (ha-ha) about the development of the state energy conservation plan. "Specifically, I am working on the used-oil recycling (?), wood and solid waste energy, industrial conservation, and a few other schemes." See what we all missed. Burnsy finishes his flash by saying "I tipped a few bourbon-and-gingers in Hanover at Carnival and managed to lose vision with Sean Gorman,John dayman and Art Howe." Quote of the month: "I didn't think that was Jim Burns when I thought I saw him at Carnival?"

Many people were seen at the Dartmouth-Harvard hockey game on March 1. The Green won 3-2 with eight seconds to play in the game. The winning goal was scored by Dan Leigh, a fellow classmate, who is on the five-year (maybe more?) plan. This enables one to "stretch things out" and to be more flexible. A belated congratulations, Harpo.

Another Winter Carnival has long passed and the ice sculpture on the Green keeps looking as if they let the Hal'sites and Heorot make it on a mid-winter Saturday night. Wasted. The people on Green Key were too busy listening to the new FM station. Seriously, Carnival, once again was a fine time for all who attended, and especially for those who are still carnivalling

We still have a report, cut from last month's issue, from Preston Baker and BrianMcEachron who relay that "in their quest for excitement and other less virtuous pleasures nine Dartmouth grads have gathered in Tehran where they are teaching English for the Iran American Society." The Tehran contingent ineludes: Jay Miller, Dave Balderstrom, BarbaraCassidy, Bill Lynn, R. T. Landers, Jim TiernevBrian McEachron, Preston Baker, and Ellen Carter '77. To prove that life in other countries is no different, they report that "as the first term draws to a close, the students gift-giving i creases in proportion to their lack of mastery of the English language - and Iranian women are beautiful." Vivid. Anyone wishing to contact (if it's not too late) Preston and Brian, their address is: Iranian American Society, 75 Vescle Shuazi Avenue, Tehran, Iran.

Rumor has it that due to the vast amount of erosion from melting snow and a malfunctioning of the plumbing system, the Wigs have fallen into the Connecticut and brought Theta Delt along. Strangely enough, Tom Dent's cabin remains - as I hope we all do after such a lousy winter.
