Joe Bird did such a good job as treasurer for our 50th Reunion that he has been drafted to do the same for our 55th. Although no longer a fulltime meteorologist, Joe is still so sharp that he already forecasts excellent weather for June 11-13, 1995. The reunion tent and related facilities, which Beezie Smallwood and Nick Turkevichvich have agreed to arrange, is needed to keep out the harmful sun's rays and to keep in the sweet music and delicious food and drink My first reunion was the 15th, soon after WW II. That one was so noisy and raucous that some of our more sensitive classmates have not yet been back again. Owing to advancing age and increasing wisdom, the quality of recent reunions has been quite different— much quiet contemplation and thoughtful reminiscing. If you haven't tried one recent- ly, think about meeting us at the 55th.

Jack Rourke apparently recovered well from his bout with cancer but sadly reports his wife, Joan, recently succumbed to lung cancer.

Dave Mellor's widow, Nina, has been a prime mover in accomplishing the recent expansion of our excellent town library. While I talked with her there, she mentioned that Dave and Bob Skinner toured the West for several months right after our graduation, skiing several western mountains. At about the same time in the East the first chairlift at Stowe was opened on Thanksgiving weekend, 1940. Ruthe and I were with the Dartmouth group that took advantage of the free rides.

During my three and a half years at this post, some of you have been very helpful.
