Joe Burnett and Stet Whitcher must be among the best-educated classmates. Joe has attended 20 Alumni College weeks, and Stet has made 32. This year the subject was "Body and Soul: Images of Self and Society in the Middle Ages." Joe writes, "The College was a series of interesting lectures and discussions that caused us to try to look at life and religion the way they did some 500 years before Dartmouth College began." Cliff Holmes wrote, "A lot has happened this summer. We have a wheelchair now, so Christine can experience more outdoor things and can walk the malls more freely."

Carl Little '76 sent word that father JackLittle has a recipe for bruschetta, a garlicky Italian dish, in Eating Between the Lines: AWriter's Cookbook. To find out what Maine writers eat, order the book for $16 from Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, 12 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011.

It used to be that our own children changed our plans. Now it's grandchildren. Lee and Jack O'Shea missed the minireunion because of their granddaughter's christening. Brad Rowland of Orleans, Vt., and Leesburg, Fla., sends best wishes to all classmates. Happy to be hanging in there for his 79th birthday and his second wife. Brad feels that his years in Hanover attributed to his love of New England and his 50 years' residence in Vermont. He is still a firm advocate of a liberal arts education because of its influence on one's entire lifestyle. SamWilliams said to Stet Whitcher "As usual, your treasurer's report is a model of perfection." The class of '4O is fortunate. Also Howie Zagor and Sam have become golfing buddies—the only '4O Sam sees more or less regularly. From Creight Holden, "Sorry I can't make the mini reunion. I'll be out west attending the wedding of two granddaughters a couple of weeks apart." Carla and John Manley now live at 6914 Via Valverde, La Jolla, CA 92037.
