After several months absence from the Internet I am now back on line with the e-mail handle ppbrooks@earthlink.net. Two stalwarts have acknowledged receipt of the new handle and contributed news. Charlie Cusack wrote from Bend, Oregon, (August) regarding the forest fire scene: "Seems much of the state has burned! Our son was evacuated last weekend from a vacation cabin along with 5,000 people at Black Butte Ranch nearby. We're heading east 9/18 for a family reunion in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, scratched last year due to 9/11. Bob Barnum has kindly sponsored our Friday evening event at the Riverside Y.C. Hope my relatives will not destroy the premises and cost him his membership!" The Cusacks had enjoyed "a most unusual safari trip to Botswana in March."

Scott Mitchell weighed in (also early August) regarding his tennis activities: "I played in a sanctioned tournament in Ashville, North Carolina, in mid July and won the 80 singles, which currently makes me number one in North Carolinain the 80s.This means if you can run 10 feet you've got a good chance of winning." Scott goes on to comment on western North Carolina amateur baseball—it is a hotbed—and adds that the Cape Cod league is considered the ultimate for aspiring amateurs, is those of us who summer here well know. He concludes with the hope he can make our 60 th next June and requests that the name tags be extra large!

Recently Susie and Bob Gray paid a Cape visit, guests of Anne and Bing Donaldson, and while on scene the four came by to sample some boiled lobsters. Hugh Lena recently phoned about his fishing exploits in Alaska. Some several hundred salmon were landed on rod and reel by this avid fisherman and friend—all returned to the briney except enough for a couple of meals. Remember these dates: June 9,10 and 11,2003 (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday), class of '43 60th reunion! Bob Field in command. We'll keep you apprised of developments.
