As the new class secretary I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Alan Mac Donald for an outstanding job over the past five years and recommending (persuading) me to take on this responsibility along with being the continuing education officer for the Dartmouth Club of Washington. I know he feels no sympathy for me since Alan served as the district enrollment director for the Dartmouth Club of Kentucky when he was class secretaiy.

Classmates in the News: From the SouthFlorida Business Journal (Miami-Dade)—Bill Poe Jr. is president and vice chairman of Poe Financial, a company founded by his dad in 1996. Investing $7.5 million to capitalize the company with no debt, today it has a staff of more than 100 and a book business of more than $85 million. After Dartmouth Bill started with his father and sold policies for seven years, when he decided to leave the company. He worked for two years as a stockbroker and then mutually agreed with his father to return.

From Ann Arbor, Michigan: Darrell Pierce, a member of the law firm of Dykema Gossett PLLC, was elected the first general counsel of the National Public Records Research Association. Darrell is a member of the corporate finance practice group at the firm and has more than 20 years experience in the practice of corporate and commercial law.

From The Boston Globe: Brian McCloskey is the new head women's hockey coach at the University of New Hampshire. Brian was the highly regarded associate coach of the UNH men's team. A recruiting specialist credited with playing a large role in helping put the Wildcats among the nation's elite, he can now do the same by returning the UNH women back to the glory days when they won a nation- al championship in 1998.

From the Valley News: Sue Young came up with the idea of helping promote community spirit and social conscience while, at the same tim . helping someone in need. Sue is the chairperson of the Hanover recreation board. The town was in the news as a result of hard work by some three dozen Hanover community kids who helped man tables and sell T-shirts for the Hanover Recreation Department-sponsored program called Hanover Kids Reach Out to Afghan Kids. A check was presented to the deputy assistant to President Bush in a ceremony on the lawn in front of the White House in April.

From Newsday (Queens edition): Diana Taylor was in the news back in April (before the reunion), when she was hired as a senior aide to New York Gov. George Pataki. Diana will be deputy secretary to Pataki, mainly overseeing state authorities. She previously worked as the chief financial officer for the Long Island Power Authority.

From the Federal Reserve Bank: T. David Reese is the co-author of a book titled FaithBased Community Economic Development: Principles and Practices. The book contains descriptions of successful faith-based CED projects as well as guidelines regarding the legal requirements associated setting up various types of projects. David is a member of the SNHU CED family (a very important group, I am certain).

On August 9 Harold Nixon was visiting Washington, D.C., with his wife and kids. He just happened to be in town and stopped by for my birthday party. Harold was pleasantly surprised to see Caldwell Gaffney and Jim Washington, my beer-drinking buddies in D.C., who brought me some nice gifts. Jim, remembering our LSAdays in Granada, Spain, gave me a bottle of muscatel. Harold is working for an oil company down in Louisiana and talks to Kerry Charles on a weekly basis, another Lake Charles native.
