Our mini is a memory, fall in the North Country is at its colorful peak and the Big Green football resurrection will be a still distant reality but expectations will be justified. The shape of the new field house behind the east stands and the newly completed dorms on the old hospital site are some of the changes that are most obvious.
Lawyer jokes not withstanding, we have classmates who have excelled in the practice of law and beyond. Among them is George Weinstein of Boca Raton, Florida. After Dartmouth George received his J.D. at Yale and an M.B.A. from Columbia. A member of the law firm of Buckingham, Doolitde and Burroughs, he has specialized in estates, trusts and tax. In the 2006 Cincinnati Magazine, George was recognized by his peers as a Florida Super Lawyer. To create this listing, ballots were sent to more than 40,000 attorneys across Florida. The results appear convincing.
Another jurist of recent note is the distinguished Quentin Kopp, recently appointed by the California Senates rules committee to the High Speed Rail Authority. Quent, who retired as a San Mateo Superior Court Judge in 2004, continues to preside over cases through the assigned judges program. In announcing the appointment, the Senate president noted Quent s long and distinguished career as a public servant and, in particular, his extensive knowledge and experience in transportation matters. The president also said that the rules committee will be sending the authority staff an updated dictionary so they can keep up with their new members legendary vocabulary.
The annual report of the Athletic Sponsor Program shows our class in the top 10 of sponsor classes, the number among us who have contributed being 25. Good for them.
