For a man who is supposed to be retired, Gus Ayers sure hops around. He has been to Australia twice this year and is flying again in November. Between hops he has been in the high Sierras working on a big dam project for the city of Sacramento, and in late September was in New York attending an international convention on high dams.
Having reached the seventy plus stage after being a teacher all his life, Bob Adriance has decided to start over again and has enrolled as a special student in the University of Maine.
One of the heartening things about our class is the loyalty and generosity of the class widows. Many of them are paying their husband's dues and also contributing to the Alumni Fund each year. Have just learned that Pauline Webster is donating a practice room in the new Hopkins Center in Merton's memory. Pauline is the active president of Webster and Webster, the company which Merton formed fifty years ago. Her new home address is 66 Cliffmore Road, West Hartford, Conn.
Don McIntire has retired and plans to move to Sacramento, Calif., before long. Roy Merchant died in West Falmouth on September 10, and was buried in Newton. Art Chapin and Harvey Whittemore attended his funeral. Ray Herman passed away in Highland Park, Ill., on September 20.
