It has happened - winter is a memory, the Green basketball and hockey team records are now past history. And with spring a revitalized spirit and renewed hope for the little world that each of us lives in.

Thus far I have declined to comment on the behavior of the undergraduate activities concerned with total liberation for all students. The perfectly normal "Panty Raid" type of activity usually symbolic of spring fever has given rise to far greater methods necessary to release pent-up emotions.

It appears that today's students are for utilizing only the gluteal muscles and stretching the vocal chords. I for one wish that they would concern themselves with planting flowers instead of sitting on them. Some switch - I can remember when we would fight like hell to get out of administration buildings; today students have a passion for doing 48-to-72-hour continuous stints in the places. Any one for swallowing a few gold fish?

The Harvard Fracas I guess upset me, however let's now concern ourselves with those who at one time treated spring fevers by drinking cold beer and sneaking over the hill to Colby Jr.

Bill Conway has been made a general partner of Modjeski and Masters, consulting engineers. He has been with the firm since 1957 and since 1961 has been engineer-in-charge of the New Orleans design office. He stayed on at Thayer after we left Hanover and received a master's degree in civil engineering in 1954. After that he worked for Metcalf & Eddy, was an instructor at Thayer, served as a field superintendent for the Raymond Concrete Pile Co., and put in some time with the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion. In between times, he married Florence, and they have a family of five children.

A guy that has concerned himself with construction over the years is our own Nails McNary who has just been named vice president of the Manchester Sand and Gravel Company. The announcement was made by Red Thornton, president of the fine company. Jack has been associated with Manchester Sand and Gravel since 1955. Upon graduation he cleaned up the Korean situation while a member of the Corps then decided to get into the construction business. Jack is active in youth football activities and is president of the Thompsonville Rotary Club. Jack and his lovely wife, Winnie and their two children live at 10 Fenwick Road, Manchester, Conn. I am personally very proud of Jack for I know how hard the guy has worked over the years.

Dr. AL ESkins is moving to Maine. Formerly director of community psychiatry at St. Luke's Hospital Center, New York City, AL is now the new head of psychiatric services at Maine Medical Center.

What is the term that is used to describe a resident of the State of Maine? All kidding aside, Al, we are proud of you and wish you success in your new position and very useful profession.

Fred John has been named a community coordinator at the Brooklyn Public Library. Prior to joining the library Fred had been busy in the advertising and public relations field. I imagine it takes a good solid public relations background to coerce Brooklynites to return the lent merchandise. Congratulations, Fred, and good luck in your new venture.

And yet another banker - Pete VosBurgh has been named an assistant secretary of the Connecticut Bank and Trust Company, Hartford. Pete is a new business representative for the bank's trust department. Prior to joining C. B. T. in 1967, he was a sales representative for United Aircraft International, covering accounts in the Far East, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Pete is a member of the American Institute of Banking. Pete, his fine wife and four children are residents of Simsbury, Conn. Decided to unpack your bag for a while - eh Pete?

John Hungerford is keeping the home fires burning. Southern Connecticut Gas Company has recently made John an executive vice president and director of the utility. John joined the Bridgeport Gas Company in 1955, and as a result of his fine efforts over the years has been named to the responsible position. John and his family reside at Twisted Oak Circle, Trumbell, Conn.
