Channing Walker was one of die gamest members of our class, spending many years in his wheelchair. His life was sustained by courage, good humor and the loving care of wife, mother, and daughters. He told us some years ago that he relished his nightly Beefeater cocktail. Good for Channing!
Ellie Norris is in fine spirits, but she reports she has to work very hard on her large house and finds it rather tedious. She gives a fine treasurer's report. In it she finds a disturbing- trend—a drop in our income. Last year we received $1,850 with 74 alumni and 50 widows participating. This year's total is $1,620 with 61 alumni and 44 widows participating. "The class of 1925 over the years has done a remarkable job of supporting Dartmouth College and our class endeavors. . . . Let's be at the top of all the classes in our percent of participation. " Ellie plans to go to Ireland in September and London at the end of October.
Pete Blodgett was in the hospital in early August for heart trouble. When he came out with a pacemaker, he said he felt better than he had for weeks. Helping greatly was the arrival of Louise. This put Pete back on track Anyway, you can't keep a good man down! She gave him a great boost. She's better than therapy. As the whaleboat wasn't doing too well, they went out and bought a new boat. Pete said the fishing was good early in the season. They christened the new boat with champagne.
Save October 30 for the mini-reunion and Harvard-Dartmouth game.
Thought of the month: buoy yourself up thinking of Channing, his courage, pluck, and grit.
