Is there $4 about the house? There's a hardworking "money changer" in Lynnfield Center, Mass., by name Bob Kimball, who has been very decently nudging you for the all-important Class dues. You know this buys the best college alumni magazine in the country, that brings a little flavor of Hanover your way each month. And more than that, it builds our class Treasury so we can properly run reunions without over-taxing each member. Then down the road a few years our Class will be building a fund to give to the College. You get tangible reward plus long-term satisfaction of aiding the College. Four dollars is light; please send your dues for '46 to Bob at 46 Forrest Hill Ave.
That rewarding crusher, Dartmouth 32-Yale O, brought out a large chunk of faithful who couldn't believe their bleeding eyes. Jack andAnona Sayers were there in good voice. Jack had his refreshments well insulated with Fiberglas. It was a warm clear day and the old Green really clubbed them. Caught our reunion chairman Andy Murtha loaded down with pretty girls bring them to reunion. Our '46 spotting was made difficult by the glaring sun and other unnatural barriers. Did catch Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Weld representing their boy Dave, who was home in New Jersey plywooding his nest.
A chance meeting at lunch the other day brought news of Bill Bowers. His dad shared a little of the "Brass Rail" to report that Bill is now With IBM with Manhattan territory. Bill and his wife are living out in Larchmont in the Colony apartments. Bill has been doing some pretty royal sailing on "Red" Motley's yawl out of Manhasset.
Our boys are really showing worthy vocations. Bill Herbert has just been elected principal of the Fisk School in Lexington, Mass. Bill started teaching in the rural schools in New Hampshire and has taught in all elementary grades. Just before this job he was a teaching principal in Lebanon, N. H. Congratulations on fine progress, Bill. Over in Haverhill, Mass., Bob McDonald now an attorney has been appointed chief clerk and indictment clerk for Essex county. Bob got his Bachelor of Laws at B.U. Bill DeStefano is teaching at Ipswich High School in Ipswich, Mass. He and his wife just bought a new home there. Bill had been teaching at Annapolis Naval Academy Prep school at Brainbridge and before that at Templeton, N. J., High School. He got out of the Navy for the second time last January with the big two bars for lieutenant. Up in Rochester, N. Y., attorney John Griesberger recently was appointed supervisor of his political ward. Let's get bigger and better houses on East Avenue, John.
The Army recently awarded Dick Connolly a special award for leading his company to a first place in competition at Fort Lesley T McNair in Washington, D. C. Dick is a first lieutenant. The dollars are getting close scrutiny this year in Germany. Jim Boggs, now a major, is there as finance officer for the ist Infantry Div. Better get up a night-club allowance for the boys on their furloughs since they wear mufti and can now get in the local after-dark "bird" clubs.
The little people this month are Elizabeth Joan Adams, Johnny Adams' daughter, and David Mason Hunt, Bob Hunt's new son.
This is short to show the long wonderful results of the Alumni Fund.
