We had some ideal football weather for the Harvard and Yale games and 53's were out in force for both games. The combined party with the Class of '52 after the Yale game was a good function and hopefully will become an annual affair. The location is very convenient and the atmosphere of the Grassy Hill Lodge is both friendly and informal. Unfortunately Halloween kept attendance down this year, but those who could make it enjoyed themselves and next year should be even better. Fred Hitt was at the party and told us that he is now an E.C.A.C. football referee and recently officiated at a Coast Guard Academy game. Also there was Jack Runyon who lives in nearby Westport and is working in Data Processing with C.B.S. in New York.
I saw George Davies for the first time m years and learned that he is now an attorney with Hughes, Hubbard, Blair & Reed in New York. George worked for several years before getting the urge to be a lawyer. He then picked-up and went to Harvard Law School where he received his degree.
Another lawyer at the party was Crib Murphy who has his own law firm in Hartford. Murphy and Bob Callender represented the ever decreasing bachelor population of our class. Tom Hartshorn had just left the bachelor ranks a few weeks prior to the party and we had the chance to meet his new wife. Don Bremner was up from West-port where he recently completed his first year as the town's first full time planning director.
Dick Nunley will be leaving the bachelors this month to marry Susan Stroud in London. Dick did graduate work at Cambridge University and is now director of studies at the Darrow School in New Lebanon. Miss Stroud is a licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in London and teaches music at King's College School and the Perse School for Girls in Cambridge.
Dave Cost has been promoted to assistant cashier at the Northwestern National Bank of Minneapolis. Dave joined the bank in 1960 having formerly been with Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco.
Sorry for the brevity of this month's column, but that's all the news we have. It would really help if a few of you could drop me a note and let me know what you're doing. Any and all news of '53's will be gratefully accepted!
