Have you noticed that those annual preaddressed envelopes have started to arrive again. Bill Pierce and Bob Van Dam are eager to have a good drive this year. President Kemeny has expressed the urgency of the College's financial situation. So dig deep.
News is slow this month as has been the case for about five years or so, or however long I've been irritating the MAGAZINE Office. Hopefully as we head into the 10th reunion year, things will pick up.
When letters do come its usually the good Mrs. who takes up the pen. AlanBryant's better half, Beverly, sent on the news from Wilmington, N. C., where Al is the manager of personnel relations at the General Electric Plant, which includes among his duties the handling of EEO minority relations. Al and Bev are still tied somewhat to Phoenix as Bev is busy wrapping up a Ph.D. in political science from Arizona State University. While in Phoenix Alan was active in many civic affairs, the most interesting of which was his involvement in the formation of an Inner City Committee which arranged activities for inner city youth, including a teenage employment service. The word is that the Bryants will be heading to Hanover more often now that they're east of the Mississippi.
Jeff Reinert has been appointed senior vice president of Management Advisors of Princeton, Inc. He brings to the newly formed company expertise in compensa- tion and organization planning and development, gained through past positions with McKinsey & Co., management consultants, Corn Products International, and the First National City Bank. While at Dartmouth, Jeff was married to the former Judy Kotchnuck of his hometown of Elgin, Ill. He went on to Yale Law School where he helped organize the New Haven Legal Assistance Association. He and Judy now have two children and reside in Lambertville, N. J.
The column owes Brian Bramson a bit of an apology. It seems that a few years ago we had him located in the Forestry Service. Brian informs us it's really the Foreign Service of the State Department (anything for a response). Brian did add that he has had an active career with the Service, having spent time and duty in Peru. France, and now Haiti, where he is Commercial Attache.
Brian married Joyce Hammond (Mary Hitchcock) in 1964 following an ROTC tour in Korea. Additions to the family are daughter Deidre and son Brian Jr. Only class contact with Brian has been with LeeSmith who visited him in Paris last year. Apparently Lee is still toiling for Bangor Punta in Connecticut.
Brian did express an often recurrent hope that the column would be able to contain the quoted opinions from classmates rather than reading about "Joe Schmoe, whose face is vaguely remembered anyway, if at all, who married Betty Bee 800 Bop from Arkansas State, and drank three quarts of beer at Beta last weekend in fond memories of his days at Dartmouth. Crap."
Although I'm not certain I know a Beta who can drink three quarts of beer (then or now), the point is in order. But as Joel Heathcote '61 discovered, it is tough to manufacture opinions.
Jere Hawkins was recently appointed an officer of the Industrial National Bank in Providence, R. I. Jere now handles the staff and decisions as manager of the Hope Street office in Providence. Hawk joined the bank in 1970 after four years with U. S. Steel in Pittsburgh. Jere and the family are now headquartered in Barrington, R. I.
Another month shot. Any news is good news. Remember the Alumni Fund.
